Avoid Spreading These Pests 

Never move your belongings to another home unless you know that they are also infested with bedbugs. You would not want to spread these pests to another home, or to your car. Once you bring them back after the treatment, you might also re-infest your home. It is wise to move just a few items and make sure that they are checked for bedbugs. You can also heat them before removing them from your home.

Wash With Hot Water 

If you can, it is highly recommended to wash your sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and other bedding accessories in hot water. Your clothes that cannot be laundered and dried like your coats and jackets should be dry-cleaned. It also needs to be inspected carefully. Avoid putting your clothes in an infested area during the bed bug removal until the treatment process is complete and all bed bugs have been successfully eliminated.

Heat Them Up! 

You can also place them in a dryer after washing and set it on the highest setting, just enough not to damage these items. Make sure you dry them thoroughly. Place them inside a trash bag and keep them safe and separated from your other items that might be infested with bedbugs. All of your curtains, towels, and even your stuffed animals should also be placed in a dryer set at the highest setting for at least 30 minutes. Double bag them after drying up.

Inspect Items That Cannot Be Washed 

Your books, gadgets, electronics, toys, picture frames, and everything else that you cannot wash should be carefully inspected. Once bedbug free and you still need to use insecticides, place the children’s toys in a safe plastic bag or storage bins. However, if heat will be used, the pest control company would need these exposed to heat treatment.

Vacuum And Wash The Floors 

In order to prevent these bed bugs from escaping, it is best to place the vacuum bag into a secure plastic bag before you dispose of it. Also, vacuum your mattress and your box spring to remove any dead or live bedbugs. Also vacuum the couches, recliners, your chairs before the treatment.

Remember that a cluttered home is very difficult to inspect. It would be more difficult to treat also because these bedbugs are not easy to locate especially when they are deep in their hiding places. If you do not need some of these items, throw them away! Make sure that all of your items and every area of the house is treated.
